Also known as Kuan Yin, Quan'Am (Vietnam), Kannon (Japan), and Kanin (Bali), this Bodhisattva is the embodiment of compassionate loving kindness. Depending on the school of Buddhism, Quan Yin can be male or female. What I love about this particular image is that it embraces both as a possibility, eliminating duality and creating oneness.
Quan Yin means "here's the cries of the world". This Bodhisattva vowed to stay in the earthly realm until all beings had reached enlightenment and thus suffering had ended. And so, Quan Yin is considered a guardian, helping us each to reach enlightenment, by connecting with and living compassion for all beings.
